"Mikazuki lived her days protecting human settlements from the shadows. The humans distrusted her, but that didn't matter - she had a job to do. She fought bravely against the Dark Ones."

Mikazuki is a Unique Hero in Knighthood. She is a Logical Hunter who is strong vs  Demon type Monsters. She is a human-like creature with pale white skin, sharp claw-like hands, a fluffy white tail, and black hair done up in an elaborate bun, wearing a short red and black patterned single-sleeved kimono and a white and red kitsune mask.

Mikazuki was introduced in the 2021 Demongate Event.

Shards for Mikazuki can be obtained by opening Hero Chests and Unique Heroic Chests.

Hero Spotlight

Like many of her kind, Mikazuki had loved playing tricks on humans. However, unlike many of her kind her tricks were rarely malicious or dangerous. She was rather fond of humans, and tended to use her tricks to teach them a useful life lesson. As she grew older, she used her powers to protect the humans - even from themselves.

When the Dark Ones came to her world, Mikazuki was horrified. These strange beings began seizing humans and kitsune alike for their terrible experiments. No kitsune that entered a Citadel ever emerged... but the humans did. They were altered, twisted into monstrous forms infused with demonic energies. They were fueled by rage, sorrow and envy and could not be reasoned with.

It took all of Mikazuki's cunning to evade both the Dark Ones and the Yokai, and it took time for her to process all that had been lost. She retreated to the mountains, where she encountered the diminutive forest spirit, Ayako. Initially mistaking her for an experiment of the Dark Ones, Mikazuki readied an attack. After a brief battle, the two realized their misunderstanding, and sat down to talk.

Like her, the forest spirit had been driven from her home, and they shared their sadness over the humans' fate. Ayako showed Mikazuki her mask, explaining how she had used it to evade detection. She explained that she was seeking out others that would stand against the Dark Ones, and against the Yokai.

Mikazuki grinned, and the embers of her idealism once again burst into flame. She was a trickster, and now she was going to use all of her wiles to counter the Dark Ones' designs. She would protect those few that had escaped, and perhaps even save some of those who had not. She would seek out others that shared their aims.

Star Level

Unique - 7 star hero. Each star increases powers by +10%.

Final star bonus: adds a chance to inflict Expose with her Base Power.

Trivia

• Mikazuki is Japanese for "crescent moon", and is the name of one of the Tenka-Goken (天下五剣), the "Five Swords Under Heaven," claimed to be the five best swords ever crafted in Japan.
• Mikazuki resembles a Kitsune in human form, known in Japanese folklore to be supernaturally-powered fox spirits that have been known to either aid or trick humans.
  • Specifically, her name was originally going to be Mikuzume, directly referencing the birth name of Tamamo No Mae, one of the most powerful Kitsune in Japanese mythology.
  • Her Rage Power name, "Nine Tails," as well as her early concept art form, references the part of kitsune myth where the more tails a kitsune has, the more powerful and wise they are, with the wisest and most powerful kitsune having nine tails.
  • The kitsune mask she wears is a design common in Kabuki theater and other cultural events in Japan.
• Mikazuki's outfit resembles the common wear of geishas.
• Mikazuki's design was being worked on at the very early stages of Knighthood's release, but was put on the back burner as the developers didn't think Japanese themes would suit their first ever Special Event.
• Her concept art shows an alternate form for her Rage power where she actually posesses nine tails; however this was determined to be too difficult to properly rig and animate.
