The Pure (sometimes called "Purists") are a militant order who "Keep the peace by any means necessary," primarily through force.[1] They devised weapons inscribed with symbols designed to be repulsive to Cult-type Monsters,[2] making them easier to kill-- though how these symbols work aren't fully known.[3] They also crafted armor enchanted to repel Magical damage.

History

The Pure are a multi-race order[4] that have been operating in the world of Knighthood for twenty years.[5] They originated in Mirefen, but have since spread out to chase down Cultists across the land.[6] After their strongest High Priest, Garron, died, the Pure were fractured and scattered across the land, and have been replaced by The Order of Rage, who shifted focus to quell all threats rather than just cultists.

Several branches of the Pure were lost after venturing into the Sacred Portal, and have now become a cult-like faction called The Inquisition[7].

Heirarchy

The Pure have five main ranks in their military:

  • Page: The lowest rank, most often kept away from real battle to train.[8]
  • Squire: After completing training, Squires are sent out into the field to combat Cultists.[9]
  • Steward: As they face more powerful enemies, Stewards are given more enchanted armor to withstand stronger Magical attacks.[10]
  • Marshal: Marshal's armor are designed to withstand both Magical and physical damage.[11]
  • Commander: The Commanders of the Pure wore ornate, impressive armor that was also resistant to both magical and physical damage.[12]

High Priest

The High Priest is the title given to the singular leader of the order. The Pure had two High Priests in their time:

  • Armand, the original leader, who was lost after being corrupted by the Sacred Portal.
  • Garron: second-in-command to Armand, Garron became the new High Priest after Armand's downfall, and continued to lead the Pure with a more pacifist view, uniting all the various factions until his death[13].
    • A small subset of "Garronists" worked to keep Garron's more peaceful methods, while most other branches returned to the more violent ways of the past.

Alliances

Under Garron's leadership, the Pure accepted Nijuro as a brother-in-arms, and blessed his swords to allow him to better fight Cultists.[14]
